　　一 邀請信 (A Letter of Invitation)

　　邀請信包括宴會、舞會、晚餐、聚會、婚禮等各種邀請信件，形式上大體分為兩種：一種為正規(guī)的格式(formal correspondence)，亦稱請柬;一種是非正式格式(informal correspondence)，即一般的邀請信。邀請信是在形式上不如請柬那樣正規(guī)，但也是很考究。書寫時應(yīng)注意：

　　邀請信一定要將邀請的時間(年、月、日、鐘點(diǎn))、地點(diǎn)、場合寫清楚，不能使接信人存在任何疑慮。例如："I’d like you and Bob to come to Luncheon next Friday. "這句話中所指的是哪個星期五并不明確，所以應(yīng)加上具體日期"I’d like you and Bob to come to luncheon next Friday, May the fifth."

　　寫作練習(xí)：

　　1 邀請朋友共進(jìn)午餐 Inviting a friend to informal luncheon

　　2 邀請朋友同他們不認(rèn)識的人一起共進(jìn)晚餐 Inviting friends to supper with the strangers

　　3 邀請參加新廠開工典禮 Invitation to opening ceremony of new factory

　　4 邀請來家中小住及周末聚會 An invitation for a house and weekend party

　　5 邀請參加招待會 An invitation for a reception

　　6 邀請演講 Inviting someone to address a meeting

　　寫作“三步走”：說明邀請目的->說明活動安排->期待盡早回復(fù)

　　提示：信中要說明關(guān)于活動的詳細(xì)信息，包括活動時間、地點(diǎn)、內(nèi)容，有時需要說明參加活動的人員。語氣要熱情真摯，但不要強(qiáng)人所難。

　　Directions:

　　You are going to celebrate your 23rd birthday with a big party. Write a letter to invite your friend Anne to the party. In the letter, please specify the time and the location, explain the activities, and express your wish for her attendance.

　　Do not sign your own name at the end of the letter. Use "Li Ming" instead.

　　Do not write the address.

　　I wonder if there is any chance for your to come to my 23rd birthday party at my house on this Saturday night, May the 8th. It would be my pleasure to share the important moments with you. In addition, since you are a fan of rock music, I am glad to tell you that I have invited our campus Rock'n'Roll band, the "Brainbreak", to perform. There are also arrangements for dancing and cake-cutting, which I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy.

　　The dinner starts at 6 pm so that we can have a nice and long evening.

　　邀請信的回復(fù)

　　邀請信的復(fù)信要求簡明扼要，在書寫時應(yīng)注意以下幾點(diǎn)：

　　1 接受邀請的復(fù)信中應(yīng)重復(fù)寫上邀請信中的某些內(nèi)容，如邀請年、月、日，星期幾、幾點(diǎn)鐘等，如"I’ll be delighted to attend your luncheon next Friday, May the fifth, at twelve o’clock."。

　　2 邀請信的復(fù)信中應(yīng)明確表明接受邀請還是不接受邀請，不能含乎其詞，如不能寫"I’ll come if I’m in town. "這類的話，以使得對方無法作出安排。在接受邀請的復(fù)信中，應(yīng)對受到邀請表示高興。謝卻的復(fù)信中應(yīng)闡明不能應(yīng)邀的原由。
