The cartoon shows us a scene that a man handing (handed) with an axe is standing in front of the last tree under the setting sun. Around them, there are so many stumps left. Bending down its trunk, the only tree seems to please (beg) the man to stop his stupid behavior.

The image above is thought-provoking in that it endeavors to convince its audiences the importance of substainable (sustainable) development. As human beings, we are eager to get wealth and then lead (live) a careless life. During this process, most of us pursue the short-term interests at the cost of the destruction of the environment. It is no denying this kind of actions may be a fast way to get rich. However, this kind of irresponsible and ill-cosidered (short-sighted) behaviors should also finally turn earth into a cold and lifeless planet.

We should always bear this in mind: the earth is the home of our (us) human beings, other animals, and (\) as well as all plants here. Therefore, while making great efforts to increase our current quality of life, we should simultaneously consider what will caused to the others.
