  Version 1

The two pictures describe a prevailing phenomenon—young people are fanatically going after the trendy and worshiping such stars as Beckham. We can see that in one photo the young boy is self-content in having his hero’s name Beckham painted on his face. In the other, the fan even goes so far as to spend huge amount of money--300 yuan on just a Beckham hair-style.

It goes without saying that young people are not doing so for no reasons. First things first, people, especially young ones have the natural tendency to worship heroes. The recent fanatical campaign of making super girls in our nation is unmistakably indicative of this trend. Second, we are living in an age of information and cultural exchange. Different nation’s way of looking at things cannot but influence our young and impressionable minds. Last but not the least, the legendary fortune-making stories of some popular stars, if they are anything, must be inevitably an encouragement to the young.

Of course, young ones should not be to blame for running after their idols. What needs to be done is just this: they should be reminded of and informed of the other side of the story—every success is won at the expense of sweat, tear, and toil. In this aspect, there is almost no exception. Young ones should not just fix their eyes on what the popular stars are doing now and just spare no time or money copying everything superficial. Remember, greatness must be prepared and Rome was not built in a day.

  Version 2

The pictures describe a prevailing social phenomenon—young people fanatically going after the trendy and worshiping such stars as Beckham. As we can see in one photo a young boy is so self-content in having his hero’s name Beckham painted on his face. In the other, the fan even goes so far as to spend such a big sum of money--300 yuan on just a hair-style of Beckham. Viewing this, we can not help feeling rather discouraged and concerned.

In the eye of many, especially the young, popular stars like footballers, movie stars and singers are, to some extent, heroes of the time. They are popular with the young people because of the legendary successful stories some of them have made. Some young people readily regard stars as their idols because they naively believe that stars succeed overnight. If they follow every step of their hero, they think, imitating the way he behaves, having the same fashions and hairstyles and everything as his, they may be successful one day or at least popular with their peers. However, this outlook is in every instance wrong and not acceptable.

The hard truth is that no one can succeed for nothing. Success (including the success of popular stars) is always the result of hard work and sacrifice. Therefore, it must be more rewarding for us to see the other side of the story—what these stars had been dong before they made it than to fix our eyes on what already successful stars are doing now and just spare no time and money copying everything superficial.
