　　Nowadays few of us read extensively after we leave school. This tendency is rather disturbing, for one should know that reading extensively are no less necessary to one’s mental life than fresh air to one’s physical life. From reading extensively, we can derive companionship, experience and instruction. First and foremost, a good book is our faithful friend. It can increase our contentment when we are cheerful and happy, and lessen our pain when we are sad or lonely. Furthermore, reading extensively can also offer us a wide range of experiences.

　　Though with the advent of TV and Internet, books are no longer read as extensively as they once were, nothing can replace the role that reading extensively plays in our lives.

　　當(dāng)今我們中很少有人離開(kāi)學(xué)校后再坐下來(lái)讀書(shū)。這種傾向令人擔(dān)憂，因?yàn)槲覀冎�道，�?shū)籍對(duì)人的精神猶如空氣對(duì)人的身體同樣是十分必需的。從讀書(shū)中我們可以得到伴侶，得到經(jīng)歷，受到教益。首先，一本好書(shū)就是我們一個(gè)忠實(shí)的朋友。當(dāng)我們高興和幸福時(shí)，書(shū)能增添我們的快樂(lè);當(dāng)我們傷心和孤獨(dú)時(shí)，書(shū)能減輕我們的痛苦。其次，書(shū)還能向我們提供各種經(jīng)歷。

　　If given the choice, a great many people would change at least one aspect of their appearance. As is depicted in the drawing, a young lady is requesting a doctor to give her a straighter nose, bigger lips, smaller chin, slimmer figure, and so on. One option that has gained tremendous popularity in recent decades is plastic surgery, the branch of surgery dealing with therapeutic or cosmetic reformation of body issue.

　　Firstly, one’s appearance is the God’s blessing, and has been one part of our body. After breast enlargement surgery, many women look sexier than before. However, many of them are found mammary gland disease. The more serious effect is that they risk being unable to breast feed. Secondly, the advocating for such a practice will mislead people in the judgment of beauty. The concept of beauty is quite rich in its content. It should include many virtues like honesty, diligence, and so on, which should be the real mainstream of our spiritual life. The practice and some contests about man-made beauty will confuse those who are to develop correct concept of beauty.

　　Concerning the above possible harms the practice may bring about, we are strongly against it and advocate seeking true and natural beauty. Besides, people, especially women, should lay more attention on the cultivation of their inner hearts. The inner beauty outweighs the outside beauty in the long run.

　　如果可以選擇的話，很多人至少要改變他們相貌的一個(gè)方面。如圖所示，一位女士正在請(qǐng)求一位醫(yī)生給她更筆挺的鼻子、大點(diǎn)兒的嘴唇、小點(diǎn)兒的下巴、更苗條的身段等等。最近幾十年來(lái)，一個(gè)極其受歡迎的選擇就是整容手術(shù)——治療或美容性的修正人體組織的外科手術(shù)的一個(gè)分支。

　　首先，人的外表是上天的賜予，而且是我們身體的一個(gè)部分。在豐胸手術(shù)之后，很多女性看起來(lái)比以前更加性感。然而，她們中的很多人發(fā)現(xiàn)有乳腺疾病。更嚴(yán)重的后果就是他們冒著無(wú)法哺乳的風(fēng)險(xiǎn)。其次，提倡這種行為將誤導(dǎo)人們對(duì)美的判斷。美的觀念內(nèi)容非常豐富。它應(yīng)該包括例如誠(chéng)實(shí)、勤奮等很多美德，這才應(yīng)該是我們精神生活中真正的主流。這種行為以及關(guān)于整容的比賽將誤導(dǎo)人們擁有正確的美的觀念。

　　考慮到這種行為可能帶來(lái)的上述危害，我們強(qiáng)烈反對(duì)整容，并提倡追求真實(shí)自然的美。其次，人們尤其是女性應(yīng)該更加重視培養(yǎng)內(nèi)在的心靈。長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)看來(lái)，內(nèi)在美超出外在美。
